Shurooq Majeed is a DHA-licensed Speech and Language Therapist with over 8 years of clinical experience across India and the United Arab Emirates. She graduated from Manipal University in 2016 with a degree in Speech and Hearing and has been practicing in Dubai since 2020.
Shurooq is experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults presenting with speech, language, communication, feeding, and swallowing disorders. Her clinical approach is holistic, family-centered, and evidence-based, focusing on enhancing functional communication, participation, and quality of life.
She is a Certified Oral Placement Therapist (OPT) from TalkTools® USA and utilizes auditory, visual, and tactile cueing strategies to improve oral-motor skills, feeding abilities, and speech production. She is PROMPT trained, applying tactile-kinesthetic techniques to support accurate speech sound production and motor speech development.
Shurooq is also trained in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), implementing evidence-based intervention for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and severe motor planning difficulties. She has experience in Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and DIR/Floortime, supporting neurodivergent individuals through relationship-based and developmentally appropriate approaches.
Additionally, she has foundational training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), enabling her to integrate behavioral strategies into individualized therapy plans. She is a Certified SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Feeding Therapist, specializing in sensory-based feeding interventions to improve food acceptance and mealtime participation using play-based, child-led strategies.
Shurooq is skilled in developing individualized intervention programs that address developmental, sensory, motor, feeding, and communication needs to maximize independence and functional outcomes across home, school, and community settings.
